BORDER AND LAKELAND HYB CALF SHOW 2014
Border and Lakeland Holstein Young Breeders Club held their annual calf show in Borderway Mart Carlisle on Sunday 5th October this year’s show was professionally judged by Mr. David Wright from the Berryholme herd. The day started with 15 members competing in the showmanship classes. Connor Wharton won the novice handlers (under 8s) with Torie Wilson in second, in the Junior section Robert Morley came out on top with Connor Wharton in 2nd, and Jack Wilson in 3rd. The intermediate class was won by William Wilson with Thomas Horsley in 2nd, and Abigail Fisher in 3rd place, followed by Eleanor Fisher. William Horsley won the senior handlers section with Rachel Williamson and Philip Potts taking second and third places. the mature section was won by Mathew Williamson with Christina Connell in 2nd place and Rebecca Fearon in 3rd. Mathew Williamson went on to win Champion Showman and William Horsley was Reserve Champion Handler and Robert Morley Honorable Mention.The trophies for best turned out male and female handler was judged by the senior club president Mrs. Marion Holliday and these were awarded to Robert Morley and Rachel Williamson.
In the afternoon the calf classes commenced when the judge was presented with a total of 29 calves to judge where once again quality was in abundance throughout with class winners as follows.
